“Openworld” is a tribute to truly groundbreaking music from all around the world. As a group of musicians they bring together different cultures and musical genres – collect them one room and jam.
As a rule, there are no rules; the artists come together, adding their individual styles to the pot and spontaneously sharing their skills.
Jamming.
The project was started to let musicians express themselves in a new, freer way. Having artists come together that have never met, putting them in a room and allowing them to create music.
The aim is for each musician involved to come from a different musical background, and this means that all the boundaries usually associated with music are blown to pieces. Creating a true fusion of sounds, cultures and feelings.
In this first experiment a combination of jazz, reggae, latvian folk and brazilian percussion were put together. Recordings were made over a two day period in Riga, Latvia, at the “Jamroom studio”. And out of those two days, two tracks were created.
Those involved in the two day jamming session were:
Chris Dawkins (Bass – Leeds UK )
have played guitar with Rhianna, Ocean’s 11 soundtrack, Jack Johnson, Jimi Tenor, Finlay Quaye
Arnis Mednis (Keys / production – Latvia)
mainly a jazz musician. Over 30 produced compilation albums, currently performing with etno jazz project.
